Tested for you: Mantle, the somewhat different skincare from Sweden

Mantle, the brand new Scandinavian brand (in Germany since June of this year) has made me curious. Everything about it is different to what we journalists are used to from beauty brands, where the emphasis is always on visual perfection and pure aesthetics in presentation. The name Mantle is unusual in itself, an allusion to the skin’s protective acid mantle. The company was founded in 2020 by technology pioneer Josefin LandgĂ„rd and brand expert Stina Lönnkvist. They are committed to individuality, expressiveness and ageing with grace – all through the development of clean and clinical formulations. Mantle’s multifunctional skincare contains a high proportion of biomimetic substances such as extracts from aloe vera, fermented mushrooms, fruit enzymes from mango or pomegranate and vegetable oils from oats and chia seeds. Mantle likes it weird At Mantle, individuality is also expressed in the product and mood photos. There are crushed, smeared tubes and bottles. The models make weird faces when applying the products. Mantle not only wants to change our skin, but also our view of beauty. “With Mantle, we want to change the image of beauty and encourage women to accept life and the marks it leaves on our skin. In a world obsessed with perfection and anti-ageing, we stand for individuality, personality and ageing with joy,” explains Josefin LandgĂ„rd, who previously co-founded a successful technology company in the healthcare sector. For my test, I chose two products from Mantle – one for the face and one for the body. I wanted to find out whether the brand can handle both “regions”. The Smoothing Serum, the elasticity booster The pink texture in the pipette bottle is unusual for a serum; most serums are clear. The elasticity booster contains three clinically tested peptides: Argireline Peptide, Matrixyl 3000 and Matrixyl Synthe’6. The three work synergistically, i.e. hand in hand, to visibly plump and smooth the skin, stimulate collagen production and significantly improve elasticity. Argireline Peptide: This powerful peptide visibly plumps up wrinkles and increases the skin’s elasticity, resulting in a smoother complexion. Matrixyl 3000 reconstructs the extracellular matrix to visibly smooth wrinkles and helps reduce inflammation. MatrixylÂź Synthe’ 6 boosts collagen production for even more elasticity and a smoother complexion. In addition, hyaluronic acid helps the skin to retain moisture, making it plump, elastic and supple. I apply the serum to cleansed skin in the morning and evening. The texture is soft and smooth and absorbs quickly.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Day and night care from Carthusia Skinlab

Day and night care – if I’m going to use both types of care, they should at least come from the same line. That’s why I also used the day and night care from the new Carthusia Skincare range. You might think that the Italian cult brand Carthusia is only known for its unique luxury niche perfumes. That’s right! But last year’s sun care has now been followed by a new skincare line. It too comes from Capri, Italy’s most famous place of longing. What’s more, the island is a myth with a magical atmosphere. It is the island of lemons. So how could the skincare line be called anything other than “Lemon Garden”? Day and night care with the scent of Capri Carthusia has not only captured the Capri flair in its fragrances. Even the yellow color of the “Lemon Garden” jar conjures up sunshine in the bathroom. The day and night cream smells of Mediterranean lemon groves. In addition, the refreshing lemon water in the “Lemon Garden Day Cream” provides intensive moisturization. The active water is extracted directly from the yellow fruit. It contains balanced amounts of trace elements (oligo-elements), minerals and essential oils. It was this lemon scent of the day and night care that won me over to the cream straight away. The boosting anti-ageing moisturizer for the day has a pleasantly light, fast-absorbing texture. My skin immediately feels replenished and looks plumper and fresher. But that’s not all: squalane provides additional moisture and improves the skin’s elasticity and resilience. Antioxidative properties The limonene or L-limonene from the lemon helps to reduce inflammation of the skin and is effective against dark spots. At the same time, it is a powerful natural antioxidant and acts as a free radical scavenger. This protects the skin from damage and premature ageing. The active ingredient allantoin provides suppleness and has a smoothing effect. It also stimulates cell division. Extracts from the shoots of prickly pear cactus are also added. The prickly pear extract, rich in minerals, polysaccharides, vitamins and flavonoids, soothes and moisturizes the skin and reduces redness. Finally, it contains lecithin. It helps the skin to regenerate itself, reduce age spots and improve elasticity Night cream for a good night’s sleep The “Lemon Garden Wrinkle Prevention Night Face Cream” has a slightly creamier texture, but still feels pleasantly light on the skin. I was pleasantly surprised by this, as night creams are usually too rich for me.… weiterlesen

How to Find the Best Skincare for Men

Gentlemen. There is more to a skincare routine than your morning shave. If your facial care routine consists of a razor and some random shaving cream – listen up. Men’s skincare is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Everything from cleansers, moisturizers to sunscreen should be part of your skincare regimen. You cannot hide behind that beard or scruff forever Many men prefer beards to shaving so they don’t have to deal with irritation and skin issues that many experience. Well, skin issues may be rooted in your lifestyle, genetics or how you’re treating your skin, so don’t blame your razor. However, if shaving is the sum of your grooming practice, this can contribute to a build up of dirt, sebum and dead skin cells leading to clogged pores, blackheads, blemishes and ingrown hairs that will further cause that irritation that you’re trying to avoid. Admit it. You spend more time caring for car or your smart phone than your skin. Getting rid of that “5 o’clock shadow” or trimming your beard should be part of your routine, not your only routine. Just like your car, skin needs maintenance, too. The most important skincare step of the day – and night Cleansing your face in the morning, and at night, should be as routine as brushing your teeth. The best start to your skincare routine is to open up those pores in a warm shower. The steam will help as well as loosen up dirt and impurities on the skin surface. If you have a fuller beard, soak in that steam for a few extra minutes. Once those pores have had a chance to open up, wash your face, and your neck, with a daily facial cleanser best suited to your skin. Choose men’s skincare products (don’t bother with your wife’s or girlfriend’s brand) as they are specifically formulated for men’s thicker facial skin and larger pores. Using a face scrub or exfoliator could prove helpful to your overall skin health, removing, excess oil, stubborn dry skin or dead skin cells. What type of skin do you have? Greasy nose and forehead, blackheads? Probably oily skin. A balancing cleanser will remove impurities and help control oil without drying skin. Bar soap is good, but specially-formulated facial cleansers are better. Lather up. Itchy cheeks, redness? Sounds like dry skin. A gentle exfoliating cleanser, with natural ingredients, will whisk away dirt and dead skin, leaving it feeling nourished and comfortable.… weiterlesen
