Fool-proof: Bronzer for Every Skin Type

It was 1984 when Guerlain launched the first pressed tanning powder. Terracotta (Italian: burnt earth) was its name, and some woman who wore it often looked exactly like it. At that time, the powder was spread generously over the entire face. This often had the effect of tinting your skin faster than you would like, as if you wanted to perform at the Winnetou Festival. But a lot has happened in the meantime. The war path number has become a contouring and freshening miracle. When the bronzer is applied to the right places on the face, it gives the exact glow that the US make-up artist Mark Carrasquillo describes as if you had just been on a hike in the Himalayas. In any case, the winter pallor disappears, contours are accentuated. With every stroke of the brush, the complexion actually takes on the outrageously fresh radiance of mountain air. The hair color sets the tone But with bronzer you just have to be careful and careful. If you use it incorrectly, the tan immediately looks unnatural and overdone. In normal times it would be nothing special and nobody would scream hurray if you were invited to a sandwich. At best, spoiled journalists would have just shaken their heads and mocked each other about whether they couldn’t afford anything better. The hosts, we are not talking about any private persons, but about super professional PR agencies and their press presentation dates for new products. In my journalistic case, these are innovations in the field of skin care, make-up or fragrances. Even before Corona, we journalist pack were pampered until we couldn’t do it anymore. The whole party was flown in to Paris for the presentation of a single (!) new lipstick or has been transported to a perfume launch in the desert. And if – yawn, how unimaginative, some colleagues complained – the event took place in your own country or city, the location had to be at least a new hotspot (the term had a completely different meaning before Corona!), a gourmet temple or an ultra cool loft. I have to admit that that was often exaggerated. One event chased the other. Every industrial group wanted to outperform the competition with its luxury brand. Greater. More luxurious. More unusual. That was the concept. And when you consider that between 300 and 400 new creations come onto the market every year in the perfume sector alone, you can imagine how hot this competition is when, in the end, a maximum of 50 of them can establish themselves. But back to the sandwich Travel has not taken place at all since the virus overran the world. There are hardly any attendance appointments, and if they do, then as a single meeting after a previous corona quick test. Never heard of the Dual Palette and Dear Dahlia? It is a vegan luxury cosmetic line from Asia. There the dahlia is a symbol of timeless beauty. But not only that. Each product contains the Dahlia Variabilis flower extract in addition to many other certified organic ingredients. This makes the products rich in antioxidants and ensures the skin is supplied with moisture. And it is easy to recognize on the OTC shelves, because Dear Dahlia stands out from all other products with its octagonal packaging in a marble design, which, by the way, stands for the dahlia in its full bloom.  Multifunctional dual palette I love products with multiple uses, especially when you are on the go and – hopefully soon again – travel a lot. Sprout is a Danish company that specializes in green innovations. Everyday products are being rethought and made more sustainable. The company is concerned with more environmental awareness in everyday life. For example, plantable pencils and colored pencils or plastic-free spoons. Around 80 percent of Sprout employees are women. What could be more obvious than developing a beauty product to give the cosmetics industry a gentle boost in a greener direction. Because 120 billion tons of plastic waste comes from cosmetics alone. The result was an eyeliner pencil from which wildflowers grow. How does this work? You read that right. The wooden pencil with a recyclable, green sugar cane cap has a seed capsule at the other end, again made of cellulose, with bee-friendly wild flower seeds. If the pen is too short to use it for make-up, you put it with the seed pod side in a pot of soil, where it turns into a meadow of flowers without leaving any residue. It’s so green First of all, about the make-up liner. Because what good is the wildflower meadow if the pen doesn’t work? But he does! The eyeliner isn’t too hard and not too soft. Tough enough to draw a precise line. And soft enough that it can be gently blended if necessary. The black color also shows enough intensity on the skin. The wooden pencil lasts a long time and can be easily sharpened if it has become too blunt. Even in a handbag at warmer temperatures, it doesn’t get greasy. Finally, after a week or so, small germs appear, first leaflets, then tentatively yellow flowers. Nothing works for me without lipstick. I was fascinated by it as a small child. When my mother was about to leave the house, it was unthinkable that she would do so without her usual ritual. There was a chest of drawers in the entrance area and her lipstick collection was in the top drawer. It was a magical attraction for us as children. Each time mother took out a lipstick and used it to make up her lips without even looking in the mirror. There were different shades of red, but all of them had a high color intensity and put a wonderfully sophisticated smile on her face. I never saw my mother leave the house without lipstick. Later, I dared to ask her why she always wore lipstick. She said she would feel naked without it. When I stand in front of the mirror today, and I want it to apply lipstick and usually I also use lipliner for the most perfect result. Soul colors Especially nowadays, I find it important to set an accent, whether under the protection mask or at the video conference. There are different colors that I use depending on my state of mind. How good that not all people know me so well that they can tell my emotional life right from my mouth. Brownish tones are more for the small accent and are less aggressive. When I’m fighting about something, a very bright red comes into play. In the evenings, especially when it came to going out, I sometimes wore very dark shades on my lips. I am particularly enthusiastic about matt tones, as they stay extremely well and also “survive” perfectly under the mask. Dame Pat McGrath After I had the chance to meet Pat McGrath live backstage at various fashion shows, I was fascinated by her personality and her ability to perform magic make-ups on the faces of the runway models with sensitivity. No wonder she is called the most influential make-up artist in the world and was knighted by the Queen of England in 2014 for her services to the British beauty and fashion industry. Dame Patricia Ann McGrath is now her official title. I am very happy that their debut collection is now also available in Germany. My Shades of Gray

Color fatigue or trend? No idea. Even women who are subject to strict protocols like Queen Letizia of Spain suddenly show gray hair. Gray is no longer nothing, but a color. Switching from full color to beautiful silver streaks is not quite as easy as many women imagine. I did it and I admit in times of Corona and the closed hairdressing salons, I have a clear advantage. “I envy you. You no longer have this constant fuss about the tiresome re-dyeing.” I hear this sentence more and more from women since I switched my hair from allover black to gray. Salt and pepper are called the mixture of light and dark. That’s right, I don’t have to colorize my my regrowth anymore. But the rest of the effort that I have now to do with my hair is in no way less time consuming to what I used to do before. Going grey Just let the gray hair grow how they like it and the new style is ready. It would be nice. But unfortunately that doesn’t work in most cases. Only women are lucky who have never treated their hair with color before. And if they are even more lucky, they really get a nice gray, a gift from nature. But unfortunately this is extremely rare. The rest of us need a good hairdresser who is at your side and also a lot of personal effort so that the gray looks really good and is not just gray. Unless you cultivate a shaggy look, which is somewhere between the shepherd dog and the storybook witch. Whether it looks cool or old also always depends on the gray. There is a friendly ash-barrel gray and also a noble gray, as you often see it on Italian women. It is said that the former black-haired get the most beautiful gray. Such a cool shade of gray that gives it that salt and pepper look. In some cases, it looks like it has been treated with silver. But it is naturally so with the southerners. Not at my place. A very long year It took a good year. The Chinese philosopher Confucius claims “the way is the goal”. But to be honest, I would have preferred a shorter route and a faster destination. I don’t normally look in the mirror all the time, but right now I see myself on the screen for hours in zoom or team meetings. And what I see there rarely inspires me. My skin is red, shiny and makes me feel bad. First I tried it with make-up, I usually never use it, or tried it with powder. None of this led to my satisfaction. The only thing that helped at least a bit was just putting on a bright lipstick to distract from the skin on my face.For years I had unproblematic skin and hardly had to worry about what to use for my face. In addition, the price-performance ratio of this new care line is very good. For face, eyes, cleansing and serum – the range for less than 150 €. I think that is a very sensible investment. I rarely use lipstick in the almost daily video conferences. Hopefully, face-to-face meetings will be more of a reason to put color on your lips in the future. The mask requirement has pretty much kicked lipsticks out from the makeup game. But when I take off the nose and mouth protection, I notice that my lips are uncomfortably dry. That’s why the new lip care from Payot is just right for me. It nourishes and repairs with a cocktail of vegetable oils, coconut, sweet almond, raspberry seeds, shea butter and beeswax. This is no empty phrase to put it so simply. But meant very seriously. It’s about anti-aging for the ears. You heard or read correctly. A part of the body that we often neglect. Undeserved! We strive lovingly to take care of our hair, face and body so that they stay attractive and young for as long as possible. But what about the ears? After all, they also age, but we usually neglect them. Not a problem at a young age. But anyone who neglects their ears for a lifetime will recognize it in the mirror at some point: the earlobes are getting longer, wrinkled, wrinkled and slack. Our daily grooming routine usually stops suddenly in front of the ears. Even the most thorough beautician rarely takes care of this slightly protruding part of the face with the facial. And if we decorate the ears with heavy pendants while styling, we don’t waste a thought on how they can withstand it all day.
