CultureAndCream Author from Munich To travel during my profession as a beauty journalist was never enough for my. Also my six month on a world trip didn't do it. It always attracts me to other cities, foreign countries, on roadtrips and places I don't know yet. But I am not only interested in "culture" and "cream", I am also fascinated by people who have stories to tell .  Such unique experiences I want to share with you.

Testet for you: „Nutricia Baum Levres“ from Payot

The mask requirement has pretty much kicked lipsticks out from the makeup game. But when I take off the nose and mouth protection, I notice that my lips are uncomfortably dry. That’s why the new lip care from Payot is just right for me. It nourishes and repairs with a cocktail of vegetable oils, coconut, sweet almond, raspberry seeds, shea butter and beeswax. The ingredients are 79 percent natural. The balm is not only available in nature, but from January 2021 as a limited edition in the two colors “Rose Candy” and “Rouge Cherry“. Lip saver As a red fan who painfully misses his daily lipstick as the only highlight (I don’t like make-up otherwise), I of course tried “Rouge Cherry”. And what should I say! Brilliant! The lips immediately feel more cared for, slightly torn areas close. The texture melts into a light, silky oil when applied, so that the balm lies smoothly on the skin of the lips and gives it an evenly delicate tint. Nothing striking, just very subtle. It is easy to use: spread it over the border with your little finger! You can rework as often as you want, the little potty is very economical for its price. Homestory with Teresa Helbig

Born in Barcelona, the designer was surrounded by beautiful fabrics in her mother’s couture atelier from an early age. There she developed her sense of detail and precision. Together with their creativity, all of this defines their fashion brand. But Teresa Helbig is not only known for her exquisite fashion. Her sophisticated aesthetics are also reflected in her perfume collection. Our visit to her studio in Barcelona was therefore a very special experience. “Every single day my mother taught me that much of the beauty of a great fashion creation lies in what you can’t quickly see.” I really like that statement on your website. It reveals that you have an eye for detail. How does that show in your work? The thing with our atelier is that the essential is invisible to the eyes, you need a keen eye to perceive all the details and all the meticulousness that we invest in our work. But, in the end, almost without wanting to, no matter how different they may be, all the garments adopt the same flirtatious, rebellious and seductive Helbig attitude, and that makes them unique to everyone’s eyes.. What other advice did your parents give you?  You have to work in something that excite and passionate you, this is the only way to do extraordinary things. The bulldog is your trademark. What’s the story behind that?  Busa (an English bulldog) has been from the first moment my most faithful companion, my best friend. He is the silent witness of the showroom, he sees everything and is present in all processes. He likes to be pampered and to be photographed, he walks through the showroom, sleeps, observes… Busa entertains us, excites us and inspires us a lot.  How would you describe your fashion?  Teresa Helbig is seduction, tradition, provocation and passion. Combined with the talent and hard work of our team and the extreme quality of the materials, we are able to create pieces with a unique aesthetic and essence.   What inspirations influence your work?  “The Man Who Sold The World”, la Costa Brava, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Elle Fanning, Aymeline Valade, Bardot bisou bisou, Jane Birkin’s eyelashes, the ‘beau monde’, cabinets of curiosity… What about your work do you especially love?  Interesting women. When you work surrounded by a team like the one we have in Teresa Helbig and you have such a special connection with them, everything flows and doing beautiful things that make us feel passionate about is very easy.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Simple Goods „Hygiene Spray“

Masks are obligatory. We wear them every day. But if you don’t have to use professional mouth and nose protection, but rather pretty, reusable fabric masks – if so, we’ll make something nice out of it! – nobody washes them every day either. Neither do I. That’s why I was happy when I came across a hygiene spray online that refreshes the face masks. But before I talk about the product, I have to say what a great new online shop this is for sustainable beauty shopping. almby.de is the name of a district in the Swedish city of Örebro, where the founder Therese Österberg – although she now lives in Hamburg – was born. She only sells Green Beauty from Scandinavian countries. Great, exquisite products from Nordic trend and niche brands. I have to admit there are many among them, even I have never heard of them. One of them is Simple Goods. So I ordered their “Hygiene Spray” right away. Spray it The ecological spray uses sustainable, vegan ingredients such as aloe vera and probiotic microorganisms to break down the dirt between the fibers of the masks, but also other textiles such as gloves. It eliminates noticeably the molecules that are responsible for the unpleasant smells. It should work like a protective barrier. The anti-allergic effect against house dust mites, pollen and animal hair particularly suits me as an allergy sufferer when our otherwise free-living tomcat “Franz”, who came to us a few years ago, has visited our home. The spray is sprayed directly onto the fabric, then let dry for about 10 minutes. What remains in the mask is a fresh, delicate scent. I use it for all my cloth masks to freshen up between washing days. Simple Goods „Hygiene Spray“, 100 ml 18,00 €… weiterlesen

Mirror, Mirror on the wall…

The chin has moved into focus in aesthetic medicine. According to a representative survey, Elyas M’Barek has the most attractive jawline for men and Selena Gomez for women. The so-called jawline is currently a big trend in social media. It shapes the face and gives it contour. A representative survey carried out on behalf of Allergan Aesthetics among Germans between the ages of 16 and 64 in October 2020 picks up on the current trend. The attractiveness of different chin shapes – distinctive, rounded and pointed – was examined on the basis of three female and three male celebrities. The result: a total of 41.2% of all respondents found Elyas M’Barek’s jaw shape very attractive or attractive. With this value, the successful German actor is way ahead of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, whose chin is rated as attractive by 29%. Dr. Babak Esfahani, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery in Cologne, is not surprised by this result: “According to the principles of aesthetics, a face and also the chin-jaw line appear attractive if they have ideal proportions, angles and certain relationships to one another. M’Barek fulfills this principle most of the requested jaw shapes. Leonardo DiCaprio, on the other hand, has a chin that is too narrow in relation to the proportions of his face ”. The German actor also more than doubled another Hollywood celebrity: Robert Pattinson. Only 19.8% of all respondents found the rather pointed chin very attractive or attractive. According to the principles of aesthetics, a face and also the chin-jaw line are attractive if they have ideal proportions, angles and certain relationships to one another. This result is surprising, because Pattinson is currently one of the most successful Hollywood actors who will soon play the new “Batman”. Dr. Babak Esfahani, Plastic Surgent in Cologne: “Robert Pattinson has a clearly distinctive chin line, but from an aesthetic point of view, his chin is too small and too pointed. Rather unusual for the role. Because all superheroes – and by the way all previous US presidents – have one thing in common: a distinctive chin.” For women, soft comes before striking While a broad chin is considered attractive for male faces, the picture is different for women: Selena Gomez, whose face is characterized by soft, rounded contours, ranks first among the attractive chin shapes. 41.6% of all respondents rate the singer’s chin as very attractive or attractive. Be all ears now!

This is no empty phrase to put it so simply. But meant very seriously. It’s about anti-aging for the ears. You heard or read correctly. A part of the body that we often neglect. Undeserved! We strive lovingly to take care of our hair, face and body so that they stay attractive and young for as long as possible. But what about the ears? After all, they also age, but we usually neglect them. Not a problem at a young age. But anyone who neglects their ears for a lifetime will recognize it in the mirror at some point: the earlobes are getting longer, wrinkled, wrinkled and slack. Our daily grooming routine usually stops suddenly in front of the ears. Even the most thorough beautician rarely takes care of this slightly protruding part of the face with the facial. And if we decorate the ears with heavy pendants while styling, we don’t waste a thought on how they can withstand it all day. But that’s not all: They will be pierced by piercings and ear holes, and not just on the earlobes. For the so-called helix piercings, even the upper cartilage area is perforated. Our ears reliably wear jewelry and glasses of all kinds. They also have to accommodate headphones and sometimes hearing aids, and recently they have also been used as holders for protective face masks. The outer ear sometimes also serves as a canvas. On the catwalk and on Instagram you saw models with ear make-up. They’d traced the contours of the ears with eye shadow or simply painted the entire earlobe. A little more attention, please! Don’t the ears deserve a little more attention than our organs for auditory perception and sense of balance. That, too, is reason enough to give them some care. If you research the Internet, you will find a lot of products for skin and hair care. The cosmetics industry doesn’t seem to be interested in the ears. If you google for products for ear care, the search engine will find sanitary aids for internal use such as drops or cotton swabs. But an ear also needs to be looked after from the outside. If you don’t want them to go limp, include your ears in your skin care routine from now on. Simply massage a small part into the earlobes after applying cream to your face. You can also advise the beautician to treat the ears with the facial.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: John Masters’ Organics „scalp exfoliating scrub“

I don’t have any problems either with my hair or with my scalp. I was just curious and wanted to know what a scalp peel like that feels like on my head, which is now obviously a trend product. New ones are constantly coming onto the market. I chose John Masters’ Organics for testing because I like this hair care product line: organic, effective, smells good. First I take a close look at the ingredients of the scalp peeling: sugar cane and bamboo to remove deposits and flakes. Pumpkin enzyme and AHA fruit extracts contribute to cell renewal and therefore promote a healthy scalp. Finally, tea tree oil and wild thyme act as detox agents. They help treat flaky areas. So far everything is fine. The ingredients are right, now it’s time for the handling. Tough as honey The scalp peel is a tough, yellowish mass – almost like honey. Somewhat impractical because it is difficult to squeeze out of the tube. As recommended by a hairdresser, I take a small amount on each fingertip and apply it part by part to the damp hair. Start at the front hairline, massage first the sides, then towards the crown and finally from the neck towards the top of the head. Mix it with a little water and it’s easier. In the first test run I unfortunately got too much of the texture, which means that I had to laboriously wash the many peeling particles out of my hair. The grains are pretty stubborn. I don’t understand why this cannot be solved completely enzymatically as it has now been implemented in many facial peelings. No more grains are needed. But I’ve learned that you really need very little of the peeling to use. After the exposure time of about three minutes, I first rinse it out thoroughly and then wash the hair as usual. What strikes me as pleasant is that the hair and scalp feel noticeably clean. And I find that after shampooing, I no longer need conditioner. So far I have never been able to do without it. Singing Bowls: The Healing Sound

We live in difficult times, so relaxation can only be good. The age-old technique of sound therapie, which is based on resonance vibrations, has recently come into focus. Too esoteric? Testing is above studying. And maybe a nice christmas present too… „Imagine trowing a stone in to a lake and it creates concentric waves. This is what happens in your body during a sound massage.“This is how Jana Hess, who is now in the second generation of the family business Hess Klangkonzepte, explains the effect of the singing bowls. Our body is made of 70-80% of fluids. The vibrations create concentric waves in these fluids. The bowl sings “ommmmm” Singing bowls are bulbous or flat, large or small, made of different metal alloys. Depending on which tones you create by rubbing or hitting and on which part of the body they are to be placed. There are Bengali, Himalaya, Assam-. Nepal or Zen singing bowls, to name a few. Five to seven precious metals are used for production, which are also equated with the planets in our galaxy: lead (Saturn), tin (Jupiter), iron (Mars), copper (Venus), silver (moon) and gold (sun). The size and proportions of the different metals determine the tone, vibration and quality of the sound. A science in itself and an exciting topic, because the resonance vibrations of the elaborately manufactured bowls compensate for the body’s own vibrations. They are now used in both private and therapeutic areas.         International attention Also internationally, especially in Los Angeles, where new “health trends” are constantly being created, the “singing bowls” are currently attracting special attention. Above all Gwyneth Paltrow, who always has her ear on the pulse of the times, especially when it comes to physical and mental health. On her platform goop she talks to her soulmate, the singer and songwriter Jhené Aiko, about the power of sound healing and especially the singing bowls. Therapy with singing bowls is an ancient form of regeneration. The first metal alloy bowls were used in the Far East 6000 years ago. The sound and the vibrations release tension and promote body detoxification. Both halves of the brain are harmonized. Emotions calm down, the mind becomes clear. Long after the sound has faded, the vibrations of the sound have a positive effect on the body. How to hit the right sound “Daily rituals, such as ‘5 minutes of sound’ can change your perspective on your life, ”explains Jana Hess.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: shi/dto „Face Serum Night“

I couldn’t pronounce the name before. shi/dto is Japanese and is pronounced schi do. The new skin care series doesn’t even come from the Far East, but is Made in Germany. The formulations are based on the latest biochemical technologies and were created in collaboration with top laboratories in the fields of biology, chemistry, biophysics and medicine. There are two series, “Make a Wish” for women and – less imaginative – “Men” for men. The goals are the same: to repair cell damage caused by e.g. B. cause fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and brown spots, and the protection of healthy skin against future damage from environmental influences. Agents of the night I concentrated on the “Hyperbolic Skin Firming Serum Night” (why only companies have to come up with such long names!) from the Supreme Revitalizing Night Care. Make a wish – my wish was that I only apply one care product in the evening and my skin wakes up the next morning without feeling tight. That has already worked with the night serum. It can be spread smoothly on the cleansed face and neck with just a few drops, is quickly absorbed and the skin feels well pampered. Deeper wrinkles, including one above my upper lip, should be treated more intensively. Done. The next morning my skin is silky smooth, not a hint of dryness, which is often noticeable on my side areas and on my cheeks. The three most important players in the serum are called ChroNOline, a new biomimetic tetrapeptide that ensures suppleness and firmness. The technical active ingredient Progeline DNA Agent is supposed to increase skin firmness, elasticity and viscoelasticity and counteract the sagging of the tissue. And last but not least, the tried and tested hyaluronic acid, which not only provides the skin with moisture, but also helps older, dull cells on the surface of the skin to loosen. After two weeks, the finest lines seem to have been minimized, and my skin is actually more radiant. Only the stupid, deep crease is still there! shi/dto „Supreme Revitalizing Hyperbolic Skin Firming Serum Night“ , 50 ml, ca 70 Euro… weiterlesen

Tested for you: La Vialla’s OliPhenolia Bitter

The Fattoria La Vialla is located in one of the most beautiful spots in Italy, in Tuscany. The more than two hundred year old farm was saved from deterioration in 1978 by the Lo Franco family and rebuilt.Today it houses a certified organic and biodynamic family farm on 1,400 hectares. Wine, olive oil, cheese, antipasti, sauces, pasta and sweets such as cookies and honey are produced (on the largest Demeter-certified area in Europe). And last but not least, the biodynamic olive cosmetics made from OliPhenolia, which also includes a dietary supplement, OliPhenolia Bitter. Polyphenols, the most valuable from the olive I was particularly interested in this OliPhenolia product. The bitter from an olive extract and, of course, natural lemon juice lives up to its name: very bitter. Especially in the morning on an empty stomach, it should always be taken away from meals in the morning and evening, it really bothered me in the first few days. But the little jars of 25ml each are emptied quickly and I soon got used to the bitter olive taste. What is contained in it is an olive water extract, which is created during olive pressing. Actually a waste product, but it is particularly rich in polyphenols. OliPhenolia is obtained through a special extraction process developed by the two Italian doctors Daniel and Massimo Pizzichini. There is more than 50mg(!) of hydroxytyrosol in one glass. The phytocomplex therefore contains such a high concentration of oxidation-inhibiting molecules that it is difficult to consume even in a balanced diet. It also affects the carbohydrate and fat metabolism, contributes to normal blood circulation and even blood pressure. Also a perfect boost for our immune system! After 16 days, a cycle that should be repeated 3-4 times a year, I feel fit and healthy. I also find that my skin looks better, which otherwise cannot handle the transition from summer to winter very well. Oliphenolia Bitter, box with 32 jars of 25ml each, approx. 33 euros… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Kérastase „Blond Absolu“

I’m not blonde, but I have the same problems as blonde women. Our common enemy is called yellowish. The white bleached strands in my salt-and-pepper hair color tend to take on an unsightly yellowish color if I don’t constantly take countermeasures with appropriate care. And that’s how I got the idea to try out the new Blond Absolu hair range. It is an ultraviolet care product specially designed for bleached hair. Color neutralization and care Since then, three purple-colored products have been in my bathroom: “Bain Ultra-Violet” for washing. The shampoo comes out of the bottle in dark purple. It contains a mixture of blue and purple pigments, plus hyaluronic acid and edelweiss extract for antioxidant protection. The hair bath not only neutralizes the unwanted warm undertones in my blond or rather white strands, but also regenerates them with hyaluronic acid. Such heavily bleached areas in particular need moisture because they tend to become strawy and also break off, especially in the forehead area. Then I apply “Cicaflash”. The conditioner is a lavender-colored milk gel, again with hyaluronic acid and wild edelweiss. It intensifies the care effect of the shampoo. Because the fact is that when you wash them out thoroughly, many of the goodies are rinsed out by the water, and the conditioner remains in the hair a little longer. With every second wash I go one step further: I always take a lot of time for the “Masque Ultra-Violet” because it has an even more intense neutralizing power. Before I put the purple cream on my washed, well-rinsed hair, I dry it carefully in a towel. I apply the mask generously, especially on the bleached strands. Then I put on one of those ugly, clear, disposable shower caps and wrap a towel over it to save me the sight. Not only! At the same time it creates an occlusion effect. I hold out like this for 20 minutes. Then it is washed out. The yellow tinge is out of the hair. Why don’t I use the mask after every hair wash when it’s that good? Because otherwise my white strands would take on too intense a purple shimmer. “Blond Absolu” by Kérastase, products from 20 euros… weiterlesen
