Tested for you: Make-up palette “Here You Glow” by Loni Baur

Make-up palettes are not really my thing. Half of the colors and products I’ve bought so far have mostly remained unused. The green was too glittery for me, the mascara brush too thick and greasy, the eyebrow pencil far too hard. As a result, many a palette ended up in the bin at some point. Anything but economical and environmentally friendly. That’s right! That’s why I haven’t bought a palette for a long time. Make-up palette by Loni Baur Why I have now broken my resolution is down to Loni Baur. As a beauty journalist, I have experienced her live as a make-up artist on many occasions. I admire her know-how, creativity and expertise. She is one of the most successful German make-up artists for good reason. Loni has been creating looks for Fashion Weeks for 25 years, has done make-up for stars such as Charlène of Monaco, Gigi Hadid and Lenny Kravitz and has worked with well-known designers and renowned magazines. In April 2022, she launched her own make-up line LONI BAUR. She is a make-up artist with a huge amount of experience in make-up and looks. That’s why I was so excited about her own beauty products and simply had to make an exception for her palette. Loni on her collection: “I have set myself the goal of making all my experience and knowledge of what makes a look special and how to achieve it accessible to everyone. The individual steps are super easy to recreate and require no prior professional knowledge.“ Two palettes, endless looks Loni Baur actually has two palettes in her make-up line: “The Face Edition 01 – Here You Glow”, which I chose, and “The Face Edition 02 – Get Reddy”. The latter contains everything for a modern statement look with red lips and midnight blue eyeliner – cool for daytime as well as for a glamorous evening look. Both palettes contain everything you need for a complete professional look. Incidentally, I didn’t imagine them to be so large – they are more of a “make-up table” than a simple make-up palette as you would normally expect. I want “Glow” My “Here You Glow” palette with its soft peach tones is perfect for a natural glowy look with soft peach tones that I can use for every day, but also for special occasions. It contains 12 brilliant products in great, all-day-all-night colors: powder bronzer, blush and highlighter, blush stick, three powder eyeshadows, brow pencil duo, eye pencil duo, mascara, nude couture lipstick and a transparent brow gel.… weiterlesen

Lip Make-Up: This Is What Matters!

During the pandemic, lip make-up has become rather unimportant. Behind the mouth-nose protection, no one would have seen it anyway and the color would merely have been smudged. In the meantime, lipstick is more often seen on mouths again. Often, unfortunately, not well done. Therefore, here again everything you should know about appetizing made-up lips.. When it comes to lip make-up it is said that since the fall of masks lipstick sales have increased by 173 percent. In the first place is still red, because red lips make the complexion immediately radiant. Red adds glamour even when no makeup is otherwise applied. It’s the quickest number to look fresh and refreshed in an instant. However, it is also the most difficult color to make up, because neither fluff nor irregularity remain hidden from the viewer. Even a makeup pro like Londoner Celia Burton confesses, “I’ve long dreamed of wearing lipstick again, but now after what feels like a year without lip make-up, a matte red that used to be my staple, so to speak, seems kind of scary.” As a sort of warm-up exercise until she returns to her “staple,” she uses what she calls lip tints. Easy to use: lip tints These liquid textures still give off little color on the first coat, but can be built up layer by layer your lip make-up for stronger effects. Such a tinted lip product also forgives small makeup mistakes. It creates a rather natural finish, the edges of the mouth may even look a little blurred with it. Apply correctly: It is best to apply the lip tint to the center of the lower lip and spread the color with a finger towards the cupid’s bow. If you want to make a statement with your lip make-up, you have to work carefully. And for this, the right technique is essential. Here are the most important steps: Prepare To ensure that lip color really lasts long and doesn’t smudge while you’re already eating, blowing your nose or kissing, careful preparation is necessary. Forget the age-old tip of “priming” the mouth with foundation. This does the opposite of what you want to achieve: the color “slips” much more easily on the “silky” foundation. Special lip primers or transparent lip liners that you spread over the entire lip area as a primer are helpful. This fixes the subsequent lip make-up for hours. If you can and want to invest more time or if the lip skin is not completely even, you can exfoliate your lips 20 minutes before applying makeup and then moisturize them with a nourishing balm.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: “Serum Mascara” and “Eye Make-up Remover” from Typology

A study by the University of Bristol recently proved that, contrary to all prejudices, men spend a lot of time studying the eyes of their female counterparts. Women, on the other hand, tend to look at men’s noses. That honestly surprised me. All the more worthwhile to grow long, silky eyelashes, which make the eyes eye-catching with a dense wreath. Serum Mascara serum with pea peptides Practical I therefore find da new Serum Mascara. It offers mascara and serum in one. Enriched with 1% pea peptides, castor oil and vegetable keratin, it lengthens the lashes, nourishes and strengthens them in the long term. Pea peptides are a sequence of lysine-rich amino acids that are believed to have densifying properties. They stimulate the cells of the eyelashes and help keep them healthy. The ingredients in the Serum Mascara are 95% of natural origin. There are neither silicones nor mineral oil. The brush is made of a 100% bio-based polymer derived from castor oil. The mascara serum is a hybrid formula between care and make-up. The lashes are not only strengthened by the combination of active ingredients, but at the same time coated with color like a regular mascara. Lightweight application I apply the Serum Mascara every morning religiously. It feels light on the lashes and leaves a natural finish. After about four weeks, I can see an extension of the hairs, but no densification. Maybe that still comes. For make-up removal, Typology has simultaneously launched a two-phase eye make-up remover, which also contains 1% pea peptides and castor oil. Thanks to this concentration of active ingredients, it is also intended to strengthen and thicken the eyelashes. In addition, it is enriched with chamomile extract, which is known to soothe and decongest the eye area. Shake well I use the eye make-up remover. So that the two phases, the oily and the watery mix to a whitish emulsion, you have to shake it vigorously. Even waterproof products clean off well with it. What I also notice that the eyelashes are strengthened and fewer hairs fall out when removing makeup. Unfortunately, the oil phase always leaves a light film in the eye, which disappears only after some time. Serum Mascara and Eye Make-up Remover are offered by Typology as a duo for £ 35.20. This does not quite make sense to me, because it does not mean any savings. The Serum Mascara (9 ml) costs £18.80 and the make-up remover £16.40 if you buy it separately.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Make-up capsules „Milky Boost Capsules“ from Clarins

Little make-up capsules. What a great idea, I thought to myself when I received the transparent jar with 30 small, skin-colored capsules for testing. I liked it right away because such small doses are ideal, especially when traveling. You can put the capsules loosely in the cosmetic bag without any mishap. I also tried this out immediately. It worked! One make-up capsule per application Each capsule contains exactly as much makeup texture as you need for one application on the face. Practical and also quite clever, because in the small capsule the formula remains protected from contamination until it is opened. In addition, the empty capsule is biodegradable. So you don’t need to have a guilty conscience when disposing of it. The jar, made of 40 percent recycled glass, is also environmentally conscious because it can be refilled. There is also a refill bag with 30 capsules. The latest product in the “Milky Boost” series, like the entire line, has been developed according to ecological criteria. The tiny make-up capsules also contain 100 percent vegetable and natural peach kernel oil – a proven beautifier and nutrient for the complexion. In addition, there is organic currant extract. It is said to firm the skin and ensure better distribution of the incident light rays. The third in the trio of plants is cocoa extract – from fair trade, of course – to improve moisture in the tissues. Small capsule goes big But now for the test. I hold the capsule between my thumb and forefinger and turn the cap around on itself with my other hand until it can be detached from the capsule. One squeeze of the capsule “belly” and the skin-colored fluid emerges. I spread it mostly on my cheeks, where I could use more perfection. I also apply a touch to the forehead and chin. The light fluid can be blended “rimless”, connects immediately with the skin and leaves a radiant complexion. No unsightly shine, but a satin finish. By the way, the product comes in four shades. My conclusion: A small product with a big effect. When I look at myself in the mirror with my “Milky” complexion, I can only say: The little ones passed my test! “Milky Boost Capsules” from Clarins, 30 pieces, approx. 22 euros… weiterlesen

Tested for you: New sustainable make-up line “Green Couture” from Artdeco

Sustainability, naturalness and maximum performance – these are the three pillars on which Artdeco is based the new “Green Couture” collection. Sustainability is not new territory for the company, because it has been in the DNA of the family business for decades – from in-house production to home work to the well-known refillable systems for make-up pallets. But for the new make-up line, the company goes one step further. In order to orientate himself even more strategically in the area of sustainability, Helmut Baurecht, founder and owner of the Artdeco cosmetic Group, brought with Prof. Dr. Anja Grothe, Professor of Sustainability Management, an expert on board who can look back on 30 years of experience in business and science. Good for you. Good for the planet. That is the focus of the new sustainable “Green Couture” line. 60-99 percent of the ingredients used for the textures are of natural origin. The products are free from mineral oils, parabens, silicones, microplastics, nanomaterials, PEG compounds (polyethylene glycol) and GMO (genetically modified organisms). Where palm oil is needed, it comes from RSPO-certified sources. Only sustainable materials are used for the packaging, such as paper from sustainable forestry and prints on water-based inks. Sustainability down to the last detail Sustainability also applies to hulls, tubes and jars. The vegan “Natural Cream Lipsticks”, for example, are contained in recyclable rice hulls with 75-90 percent organic substances. The same applies to the blusher, bronzer and blush jars. All liners, whether for eyes, brows or lips, are made of wood, the cap is made of recyclable polypropylene (PP). This is known as an alternative to the “bad” plastic bags of the past. The basic substance for the concealer tubes is a bioplastic made from the sugar cane plant. Top quality, great colors It goes without saying that the quality of the sustainable formulations and the color result are top for all products. The color palette leaves nothing to be desired. And everything has been thought of – even a sharpener for thick and thin cosmetic pencils. The “Double Sharpener” has a specially shaped blade made of high carbon steel instead of stainless steel. Finally a blade which doesn’t get blunt so quickly and cuts the wood without splintering it. And the material of the sharpener is also biodegradable. The manufacture of the Mater-Bi from corn starch and oils is comparatively water-saving. For the raw materials of 1 kilogram of Mater-Bi you need 15-30 liters of water for irrigation.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: 16 Shades “The Concealer” Pen from Victoria Beckham Beauty & Augustinus Bader

Concealers are essential for any make-up routine. Even if you don’t wear much make-up (apart from lipstick!) like me. Because these tools are truly multi-talented when it comes to concealing dark shadows, puffiness and discoloration under the eyes. Even better if they also have skincare properties – like the new “Concealer Pen” developed by Augustinus Bader for Victoria Beckham Beauty. It contains the unique patented TFC8® complex, on which Professor Bader’s entire beauty line is based. He developed this complex, which is based on over 30 years of research in applied stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, in his Leipzig laboratory. One concealer, double the effect The concealer covers the complexion like a second skin and simultaneously nourishes it with highly active nutrients from the Trigger Factor Complex TFCTM technology. It is a carefully formulated blend of high-quality vitamins, lipids and highly effective, protected peptides. This transports essential nutrients into the skin for cell renewal, combating signs of ageing and damage for healthier looking skin. “Imagine a concealer you need less the more you use it. The formula easily and quickly camouflages dark circles and spots, but the ingredient technology in The Concealer Pen is just as powerful as skin care. It acts as a supernutrient for your skin alongside smooth, brightening coverage that’s not too oily or too drying.” Victoria Beckham The TFC8® complex in the concealer pen is complemented by Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, a peptide known to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Especially those caused by facial expressions, such as around the eyes and mouth. Polyglutamic Acid helps to improve the skin’s moisture magnet, hydration and elasticity, thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Another moisturizer is Squalane, a highly biocompatible oil that has the ability to penetrate the skin to provide hydration and antioxidant protection. 16 different shades From the huge color palette of sixteen intelligently coordinated shades, there is the right one for every skin tone. I use a medium shade called LM1 (Light medium with neutral warm undertones). The pen has a light to medium camouflage that blends out to a very natural base and makes any imperfections disappear. The slim brush pen is also ideal for touch-ups on the go because it can be applied quickly with one hand, as Victoria Beckham explains. At home, however, when I have more time to invest, I prefer to use a slightly wider concealer brush so that I can spread the texture particularly thinly and evenly, especially under the eyes.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Fall look from Make Up Factory

Fall is fast approaching. Nature is already preparing for the coming season. Here in Italy, the widespread oaks are shedding their brown leaves. The pine trees shed their needles in a wonderful reddish brown. I have also adopted the beautiful fall tones of nature for my new eye make-up look. Strong color nuances in an elegant brown-grey. I love these mousse colors because I don’t like any color rush on my eyes. I prefer to save that for my outfits – even in the fall and winter season. Fall look: Be the rebel For my eye make-up, I choose the vegan Pro Effect Eye Palette “Iconic Variations” with a lid in an elegant, black leather look. An extremely aesthetic feel! I can create a new trend for myself every day from the nine sensual eyeshadow powders ranging from a light beige (ideal as an eye opener!) to charcoal black. For the evening, there are two metallic versions in silver and bordeaux, while the other powders are wonderfully matt and velvety-soft to apply. Thanks to the high luminosity and intense color payoff, applying makeup to the eyes with this palette is child’s play – provided you use the right brushes for the eyelid, corner of the eye and lid margin. You can create a blurred shabby look with your fingers, but you should then limit yourself to one color. Incidentally, these are all free from mineral oil, parabens and perfume. Eyeliner with or without wing I use the vegan Ultra Last Precision Liner in an ultra-matt “Deep Black” to give the eyes more expression and to visually thicken the lashes. I can draw both fine and bold lines with the precise felt tip. A little tip on how to make it easier: first draw a gentle line from the inner corner of the eye to the middle of the lash line – always close to the lash line so that there is no gap to the eyeliner. Then draw a second line from the outer corner of the eye to the center. If you want a wing at the end of the eye – whether curved, straight, larger or smaller – you should make sure that there is only a little color on the eyeliner brush. For this reason, a felt liner has a clear advantage here. Place it at the outer corner of the eye and draw a fine line towards the eyebrow.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Rose care line from Italy “Acqua alle Rose”

Acqua alle Rose is the second brand that has found its way into my bathroom in Italy, alongside Borotalco. The same manufacturer, by the way. A dear friend from Munich (!) introduced me to it because she wanted to bring the products back to Germany. Together we went in search of Acqua alle Rose. I immediately liked the packaging with its ornate, Italian-antiquated white label on a sea-blue bottle. I was surprised by the reasonable price considering the complicated rose distillation process.. Acqua alle Rose – a look at its history As the name suggests, rose essence is the basis of all these products. The origins of the line go back a long way. In 1843, Henry Roberts opened the pharmaceutical laboratory H. Roberts & Co. in the center of Florence. However, their distilled rose water only came onto the market in 1867. The mixture of pure distilled water and extracts of precious roses became the beauty secret of generations of Italian women. As early as the 1930s, production was expanded as demand for rose water continued to rise. In 1983, the first advertisement appeared, claiming that Robert’s rose water “removes the veil of tiredness from your face”. In 2014, the first facial care range was ready for the market, followed in 2020 by a complete range with the unmistakable scent of roses – for all skin types and for all ages.. Roses, roses, roses A wide variety of roses are used for the distilled rose water – from Rosa Janina (rosehip) and Rosa Mosqueta, which is rich in Omega 3, Omega 6 and vitamin A, to Rosa Centifoglia and the well-known Damask rose, which also has an important name in perfume production. The extracts not only have a high skincare effect, but also give the products their subtle, delicate fragrance. The rose hip, also known as the shrub rose, is one of the countless species of wild roses that grow wild in the Italian forests, especially in the Apennines. The small red berries are an incredibly rich source of vitamin C, which is contained in up to 100 times the concentration of citrus fruits. In addition to the rosehip berries, parts of the flower such as petals and buds are also used. Its cosmetic effect is extremely potent, as vitamin C has a strong antioxidant effect that counteracts damage caused by free radicals and combats photoageing. The fruit also contains natural acids with a smoothing and moisturizing effect, tannins and carotenoids.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: Fermented active ingredients in “The Truth Serum” from SKŌUD

Fermented active ingredients are not only a top beauty trend and are considered an anti-ageing booster, they are also an absolute game changer in natural cosmetics. In everyday life, we are familiar with the fermentation of foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut and cheese, but also beer and wine to make them more durable. Korean cosmetics manufacturers, who are ahead of us in many beauty areas, have been working with fermented active ingredients in skincare for a long time. The packaging then says something like “galactomyces ferment filtrate”, “bifida ferment lysate” or “saccaromyces ferment filtrate”. What are fermented active ingredients? The fermentation process is a special fermentation process in which organic substances are converted with the help of fungi and bacteria under anaerobic conditions (without oxygen). The conversion work of the microorganisms during fermentation produces many health-promoting substances such as amino acids, vitamins, lactic acids, polysaccharides and beta glucan. A fermented active ingredient also breaks down into smaller molecules and proteins, which improves its bioavailability, i.e. it can be absorbed more easily by the skin. It is also better tolerated as allergenic proteins are partially converted into non-allergenic substances. Most fermented substances also have a lower pH value and naturally ensure a longer product shelf life. Fermented active ingredients not only score with maximum bioavailability, best tolerance even for sensitive skin types and a top shelf life. The amino acids they contain have a firming effect and can promote collagen production. Vitamins act as antioxidants to protect against UV damage, one of the main causes of premature skin ageing. Support for the skin barrier SKŌUD Skin Health is committed to maintaining healthy skin – with natural, innovative ingredients at a high-performance level. Their “Truth Serum” is a holistic 360° multi-defense serum that protects the skin from harmful environmental influences such as UV radiation, blue light or fine dust with its highly concentrated and natural bioactive ingredients. It neutralizes free radicals that can cause irreversible damage to the skin, thereby perfecting the skin’s appearance. To protect the skin barrier, the serum uses biotechnologically obtained moss extract and fermented oats with their skin microbiome-strengthening properties. It also contains the specially developed active ingredient complex AERI5, which homogenizes the skin’s own microbiome and thus also strengthens the skin barrier. My test I not only like SKŌUD’s philosophy, but also the clear, no-frills presentation of the products and their formulation. The serum has a light and cooling texture that makes it suitable for all skin types.… weiterlesen

Tested for you: “Sun Protection Powder” SPF 50 by Jean D’Arcel

Sun protection powder is an extremely practical invention of the beauty industry, in my opinion. Sun protection is not an option, but a must if you want to keep your skin beautiful. After all, the sun’s UV rays are scientifically proven to be the main cause of visible signs of skin ageing and the development of hyperpigmentation and an uneven complexion. This doesn’t just apply when it’s warm outside and the sun is blazing down from the sky. Even on a gray and rainy day, the skin is exposed to damaging UV rays, which gradually make the symptoms of photoaging visible. To fully protect the skin, you should therefore use adequate sun protection every day. Sun protection powder offers several advantages By now, (almost) everyone has understood that we should apply our sun cream in the morning as part of our skincare routine. But what we often forget is the fact that the protective effect wears off over the course of the day – and needs to be refreshed. But especially if you wear make-up, this can be difficult with a product in cream form and look smudged. “The Sun Protection Powder” from Jean D’Arcel is ideal for refreshing your sun protection. It is also perfect for on the go with its integrated mirror in the lid of the clean, white box and a sponge in the bottom compartment. In addition to UV protection, it has two other beauty plus points: It mattifies and perfects the skin’s appearance. Perfect finish with two shades The sun protection powder comes in two shades: No.1, a lighter shade, and No.2, a darker version. As I never wear make-up, I use both. The soft texture with SPF 50 sun protection factor is easy to apply with the sponge and spreads evenly. I use the lighter powder to mattify for a flawless finish. I use the darker shade for contouring, which replaces blush or bronzing powder. And my skin is also well protected, as the high-tech formulation with UVA and UVB filters is effective against premature ageing and cell damage caused by light. The product is also paraben- and fragrance-free. „Sun Protection Powder“ SPF 50 from Jean D’Arcel, 9,5 g, 29,50 Euro Dermal Add-On Fluid SPF 50+ For a longer stay in the sun, additional care with a sun protection factor is recommended, also good to use as a make-up base. The very high, non-greasy add-on sun protection from the Arcelmed medical line protects the skin with SPF 50+ against all negative external influences such as UVB rays, car exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke or industrial environmental toxins.… weiterlesen
